Day Trip – Nottingham Shopping

Hey Everyone. This weekend just gone I decided to have a day out. January is such a long month and apart from a trip to Rome I have booked for may I have nothing else to look forward at the moment so decided to have a day out shopping. In my job the busiest month is January and I’ve been working overtime so it was nice to have a full weekend off and do something with it.

I decided to go to Nottingham because I’ve not been before and had heard the shopping was good (what else would I need) Myself and my boyfriend were going to stay over but left it far too late to sort it out so just went for the day on Saturday.

We arrived in Nottingham for about 11.30 or 12ish I think. I was hungry by the time we got there so decided we would get food quite quickly…but I did make a few stops on the way.

The first shop that I wanted to go in was Mac. Now although I loveeee Mac makeup I always find the shops so stressful and busy and never end up buying anything. I did try some lipsticks and think I’ll get myself a whirl lipstick which I’ll order online. On the same street there was an Urban Decay. there were so many lipsticks to choose from and I was so tempted to get one which was a brown shimmer shade but I just couldn’t decide so didn’t get it. I also wanted the all nighter foundation but decided to look around before I brought it (didn’t end up going back!) There was also a Kiehls which I went into as I wanted to look at the midnight recovery concentrate. Wasn’t going in to buy it if I’m being honest but the lovely lady who served me gave me a sample to try.

I think we went to Lush next. I loveeee lush it’s my favourite. I love there values and also their products are so well priced. I did make a purchase here as always. It’s the biggest lush I’ve been to so it was nice to have a look round but again was super busy so I just got three bath bombs. They all smell so good but the green one is my favourite. I did get the big bang one but not sure where I’ve put it!

We then decided to get some food straight away as we had been walking round a while already (my fault going into every shop) We had a little wander and came to a Turtle Bay. I love it there especially the cocktails! But we carried on as we wanted to find the cinema, we knew it was close because we were thinking about watching split. We got there and it was literally down the road which is right next to a Chiquitos. Mexican food is both mine and my boyfriends fave so we decided to eat there instead.

We got a table and I decided to get a cocktail which tasted so good. I always worry with cocktails because I find they either taste amazing or awful but this was so good. I was a very bad blogger and forgot to take a picture of my food! But I had tacos to start and enchiladas for main, both were really good. I also accidentally used the MENS toilets. I don’t know how, I don’t know why, but it happened. I didn’t even realise until I came out and my boyfriend was staring at me, laughing, a lot.

After food it was back to shopping. I’d actually wanted to buy a bag as I’m so desperate for a new one. I tried in quite a few shops and just couldn’t find anything. So. What did I do then. Make up shopping. I went to boots didn’t I!? I knew I’d find something to make me feel better about not finding a bag. There was THE biggest NYX stand ever and there’s so much I wanted from there I decided to do a little haul. I got a lip liner, concealer, setting powder, contour powder, butter gloss, soft matte lip cream, eyebrow primer and a lingerie liquid lipstick. I love NYX because it is sooo affordable. The total price came to £40 something which in other brands would be 3 or 4 times the price.

I was pretty happy after I’d made this purchase so we decided to have a walk and a look around for a little while and stayed for an hour ish after. I don’t think I actually brought anything else so a bit of a shopping fail but there is always a next time.

Have you been to Nottingham? And is there anywhere else you would recommend going?

Lovely post! I don’t live too far away from Nottingham (around 40 mins on the train) but I don’t go all that often. It’s a fab city and I really want to explore it more! x

I visited Nottingham last year – I thought the shopping streets were really well laid out. I also visited a pub that had a canal running through the middle of it. Very quirky!

Never been to Nottingham before, sounds like somewhere worth visiting! I love shopping in Edinburgh or Glasgow. I’ve also liked going to Manchester and Leeds x
